Mena
A classically trained pianist, self taught guitar player and award winning Jazz vocalist by the age of 12, Music is all she has ever known. Today in her home town of Portland Oregon, Mena is a well sought after DJ, studio vocalist and budding producer. A creative gem and staple of the Northwest electronic music culture, she’s an easy favorite among house heads.

At the age of 15 she bought her first pair of Technics and never looked back. She’s been shamelessly bossing a mixer around for the better part of almost two decades and you can feel it when she plays. Her sound comes straight from the soul! Jackin, funky, deep, jazzy… whatever the style, her mixing it solid, clean and soul stirring. She knows what she is doing and it shows.

2013 was her debut year in production and she hit the ground running with 13 releases on 7 labels in 3 countries. She began collaborating with a myriad of house music and down-tempo producers and is a featured Artist for releases on Ficus Tree Music, Caboose Records, Native Soul Recordings, Caliber Sounds and Mark Farinas Label Great Lake Audio to name a few. The result of which has allowed her to enjoy a little success on the Stompy and Traxsource top ten in 2014!

We are bringing it full circle with a lineup that completely embodies and portrays the literal definition of INICIO, because were taking it back to the beginning. Steve O and Luan have been responsible for holding our house music scene down for many years as well as ushering in and mentoring the next generations , so it’s the least we can do to show our thanks to these STL Icons. So don’t sleep on this one. Come out and show them the respect and love they have more than earned as they honor us with the music we love.

Butane:

Butane has been flying the underground flag, professionally, unapologetically, since 2001 when he began DJing. There are countless mechanisms ready-built into the electronic music industry which relentlessly pull one toward commercialization, aka selling-out, and he vows to resist them at all costs.

Through the years, he’s watched in disappointment as peers (sometimes understandably) succumb to the pressure, and in doing so, ultimately lose the respect of those who matter most – their colleagues and fans. Nevertheless, steadfast, through hard work, dedication, and commitment to artistry, he finds himself a pillar in the scene. This is no accident.

Owner of two exceptional record labels (Alphahouse & Little Helpers), and responsible for a sprawling and impressive discography of original work and remixes, he forges his own path. Against the odds, he believes talent, hard work, dedication to craft, attention to detail, and uncompromising belief in these core principles is the way to conduct a meaningful career in the music business. Because of this, Butane consistently snubs offers promising money in exchange for small pieces of his soul. Those kinds of things chip away at a man until what remains is unrecognizable. Instead, he grows, evolves, changes on his own terms.
